Superleague netball hits town again soon and its time to get your tickets to watch the new look Surrey Storm battle it out against the best teams in Europe in the Co-operative Netball Superleague.

Surrey Storm have been whipping up a frenzy over recent months with a host of new signings including four England international stars. Once again netball fans from all over London and the South East will be able to watch their number one team play in Guildford and Surrey Storm promises that this year’s match day experience will be bigger and better than ever before.

England Co-captain and Storm superstar Sonia Mkoloma stated; “Not only do we have an excellent set of athletes in the squad and a fantastic head coach Mary Beardwood, we have the best fans. We have always had a passionate following and this year we want every match to be a sell out” she stated. Sonia added; “I really think that this year will be very special there is a real buzz of anticipation and excitement. We have a new look squad, a new look franchise, new look kit and merchandise and I think the fans are excited about it too. We will be going out on to court every week to entertain, play great netball and win”.

Franchise Director Jason Harborow added; “We want our following of fans to grow even more. We already have the largest crowds in the Co-operative Netball Superleague and we want to give the fans more of what they want. Creating a special matchday experience is vital. We will have The Surrey Storm dance troop to entertain fans, loads of competitions, opportunities to become involved in match days as ball girls or volunteers, there will be merchandise on sale at all our home matches and plenty more. We want our fans to go home feeling like they have played an important part in our day”.

Storm kick off their season with two away fixtures against Team Northumbria and Northern Thunder on 12^th and 13^th December respectively. They then begin 2010 in style with four home matches in January. Storm’s first home encounter of the season is against rivals Mavericks at Guildford Spectrum on Thursday 7^th January and has already been billed as the Sky Sports match of the week. The game starts at 8pm whilst the youth team take on Team South Talent at 6pm so get there early and you can watch our Talent Squad’s first home match as they attempt to defend their NTL title as well as watching Surrey Storm’s Superleague stars in action.

Mkoloma finally added; “What a first encounter as the new look Surrey Storm and our first home match! It’s the Sky match of the week and against a quality side, I know if I was a fan I wouldn’t want to miss it. We can’t wait to see all our friends, fans and families there”.

This season also sees the introduction of double-header weekends meaning a much more demanding programme on players. Storm will play five matches in January alone. Head Coach Mary Beardwood added; “The athletes will need to be mentally and physically stronger then ever before with such an intense programme. I also believe the competition for the top four spots will be even more competitive then ever before so it is certainly going to be an interesting year”.
