Storm’s Dunn hits sensational 600!
Dunn has been unstoppable this season under the post and notched up another 49 goals today and the as ever modest shooter was quick to point out that her team mates have played a crucial part in reaching 600, “Once again the attack fed me brilliantly and the defence provided plenty of turnovers”, she stated. “I didn’t even realise I was on 500 to be honest so it’s a nice surprise to hear I have scored 600!”. Dunn has had a tough few weeks moving job and home during a busy period of netball, she added; “Its been a crazy few weeks and today I feel like I got my flow back too which was nice”.
Storm started quicker off the blocks then they have in recent weeks and also used the opportunity to look at some different combinations. With Hannah Reid unable to change skiing holiday plans for this re-arranged fixture a new look defence took to the court with Aussie Jaime Galley starting at Goal Defence for the first time this season.
Rhianne McHale linked up together well with Dunn in the second half and Gemma Wiseman and Chrissy Fitzgerald were all rewarded for their hard work with some court time. Head Coach Mary Beardwood was particularly pleased with the performances from players who entered the match; “Rhianne really impressed and played very nicely, I am very happy with the way in which everyone applied themselves today” she stated. Beardwood was also far happier with today’s actual performance, she added; “We were much fresher today, I think having a day off yesterday rather than travelling so many miles after a hard days work really made a difference and I was very pleased with the way in which we played. It was an awesome performance against a feisty Dragons side who pushed us in every quarter and I was also pleased with our defensive display in the last quarter, it was superb”.
