Storm sign England star Pamela Cookey

Surrey Storm is delighted to announce the signing of England international Pamela Cookey for the forthcoming FIAT Netball Superleague season.

Cookey, 27, is Storm’s first signing of the new season and arrives at Surrey Sports Park from Team Bath.

Rated as one of England’s best attacking netball players, former Bath captain Cookey joins with fellow England internationals Rachel Dunn and Tamsin Greenway to form a formidable attacking trio for Storm this season.

The arrival of the former Netball Superleague Player of the Year and three times Superleague champion also sees Cookey, Greenway and Dunn join back together for the first time domestically since playing at Team Bath. The trio will be looking to build upon their relationship at Storm, bringing their famous attacking understanding and play to Surrey for the upcoming Superleague campaign.

After finalising the move to Storm, Cookey said, “I'm very excited to be taking on the new challenge at Storm. It's great to be back playing with Rach and Tamsin again, and it's a great opportunity for us all to work together to improve our game at both Superleague and International level. I hope together we can bring something new, fun and exciting to the game and to the Storm fans.”

Storm Player-Coach Tamsin Greenway, said, “I'm thrilled to have Pamela playing for Surrey Storm. She is the best Goal Attack in the country and a truly world class player.

“Her signing gives us a fantastic opportunity to build on last year’s success. Not only will she bring heaps of experience to the team, she will also offer us exciting new options in the attack end and be a great leader for the youngsters coming through our ranks. I know the Storm fans will thoroughly enjoy watching her and Storm this year.”

Franchise Director Gems Leaming, added, “Signing a player of Pamela Cookey’s stature benefits the club on many levels. Tamsin was keen to add her talent to the squad as we continue to look to win the Superleague and this signing will undoubtedly help the club realise our potential both on and off the court.

“This is a very significant day for the club, and Pamela’s arrival is a sign of our continuing high ambitions. I hope every Storm fan is excited as I am with this news.”

Cookey (GA/GS) will begin training with her Storm teammates in October.
