The Surrey Storm Netball Pathway programmes have concluded a very successful summer, including a number of tournament and also some England Roses Academy selections.

NPL Tournament

July saw the U17, U19 and U21 squads head to Nottingham for the NPL Tournament.

Performance Pathway Head Coach Emily Nemeth said: “Taking our squads to the NPL Tournament at the end of July was a huge undertaking for our coaching team, but with highly committed athletes and parents we were both well-prepared and excited for the four-day tournament.”

The U21s finished in 6th position and U19s in 7th, but it was the Surrey Storm U17s (coached by Sam Houghton and Bev Bostock) that impressed the most.

Reaching the goal medal match following some incredible performances, the team earned an impressive silver medal, finishing 2nd overall.

School Sports Games

2018 marked the first time that netball has been included in the School Sports Games competition, held in Loughborough at the end of August.

This multi-sport event saw our U15 squad face other Superleague franchises, Northern Ireland and Scotland across the four days.

MPU

Missing out on the gold medal match on goal difference, they triumphed in the bronze medal battle – beating Manchester Thunder by a single goal.

England Roses Academy Selections

Huge congratulations go out to the following athletes who have been invited to the Roses Academy for the upcoming season:

U19 – Ally Housley and Shelby Harris

U17 – Ellie Harding and Emma Thacker
