Ainsworth: “Storm is the place to be in London!”

Just two days to go until Netball London Live 2016 and as the players take to the court for their final training session ahead of the game this evening, BBC Radio’s Andy Lamb checked in with Katt Ainsworth to get the gossip from the Storm camp.

AL: Netball London Live this Saturday- do you prepare for the game any different?
KA: London Live is one of the events we look forward to each season we have a good win rate there and after Manchester [Thunder] and Loughborough [Lightning] it’s a big week for us.

We will prepare as we do going into every other game and every other year, it's nice knowing that we have that advantage but it always makes [Hertfordshire] Mavericks that little bit more hungry but it's such a great showdown. Even though it's our home game the crowd is very much 50/50 and I can't wait to get out there.

AL: Mikki [Austin] and Sophia [Candappa] are ex-Mavericks, have they been be providing ‘insider info’?
KA: What can I say Storm is the place to be in London! To be fair Mikki has been with us a few seasons and Sophia has settled into Storm ways really well, as a team we have played them plenty of times before. We have analysed their game, we know how they play, they know how we play and on game day if it’s a few tips from Sophia or Mikki then we'll keep that secret.

AL: England Netball have announced that the Superleague Grand Final will also be held there too.
KA: Brilliant to have it at the venue. The best thing is that we building nicely and strongly and have belief and confidence in one and other on court. We can draw on winning from last year.

AL: Are you happy with how the season has started?
KA: At the minute we are aiming on starting strong and closing out matches. It’s getting into that top four and once we get there it's all about starting again so that's where we are aiming for to get into playoffs and Copper Box again.

AL: How important will the Storm fans be next weekend?
KA: Storm fans are a credit to us, they ride the wave with us good and bad, they lift us on court, are very loyal and very loud.
