Austin scoops Fan’s Player Award

Surrey Storm mid-courter Mikki Austin has picked up her second Fans’ Player of the Season award following another impressive season with the Superleague outfit.

Austin, who has just completed her third season with Storm, was forced to sit out for a short period with an injury but was ever present on game day regardless and could often be heard from all corners of home and away areas, providing vital passion and encouragement to her fellow teammates.

Mikki received her award at this week’s End of Season Dinner, which brought players, coaches, backroom staff and families together for an evening of celebrations.

Four other awards were also announced on the night, which saw shooter Katie Harris pick up a Players’ Player and Most Improved award double header after arguably her best season for Storm yet. Katie’s awards proudly sit alongside her BUCS Premier South Play-Offs medal which she secured with Team Surrey Netball this season.

The Most Valuable Player Award, selected by the Storm coaching staff, was awarded to veteran Naida Hutchinson in her debut duck egg blue season after returning from injury to put on a number of game changing performances and showing continued passion for the sport.

A tightly contested Players’ Personality of the Season award went to defender Lorraine Kowalewska, who returned to Storm this season and was a shining star within the squad on match days and during every training session.

Congratulations to Mikki, Katie, Naida and Lorraine on your awards!
