Blackmore departs NPL Head Coach Role

Surrey Storm NPL Head Coach Emma Blackmore has left the club following 6 years with the squad.

Emma began as Assistant Coach before making the step-up to Head Coach and working with England Netball as a Regional Talent Coach.

During her second season in charge, she took the NPL side to their highest ever finish in the league (2nd) and has the record of never finishing below the top 4.

Following her resignation, Blackmore said: "It has been brilliant to work with such committed players, and seeing them develop and go on to achieve great things."

Emma is moving to Cambridge with her fiancé to start a job at The Perse School as Head of Girls’ Games, having worked at Cranleigh Prep School for nearly 3 years. She is hoping to stay in the world of netball by continuing coaching on the netball performance pathway and helping with Cambridgeshire’s County Academy.
Emma’s departure leaves an opening for the role of NPL Head Coach for the upcoming season.

The NPL is the formal junior U19 competition in which the Surrey Storm squad will be drawn from the top level players from across London and the South East.

There are 9 participating teams with all sides playing each other once. The NPL season officially starts in February 2016 and continues through to April 2016 with the 4 Home and 4 Away matches being held on Friday, Saturday or Monday evenings.

Training and home matches are played at the home of Surrey Storm in Guildford at Surrey Sports Park. The Surrey Storm NPL squad will train weekly on Tuesdays from 8 – 10pm commencing in October 2015 through to the final competition in April 2016, with trials taking place in late September.
