Surrey Storm is delighted to announce the re-signing of Sigi Burger for the 2019 Vitality Netball Superleague Season.
Burger, who represented South Africa at the 2018 Commonwealth Games last season, will be looking to build on a fantastic 2018 season in duck egg blue.
The shooter describes returning to Surrey Storm as like she is “coming home again.”
“I came back to Storm because I’m excited for the new direction the club is going to be moving in.
“I feel one should always accept challenges and take on change with positivity and enthusiasm.”
Burger joins new Director of Netball Mikki Austin as part of the Storm squad for 2019 and she spoke of her excitement for Burger to return.
“I can’t wait to get her back over here” said Austin.
“I’m really excited to see what we can do with her, this is just the start so keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks for more announcements.”
Winner of the Storm Personality of the year award for the 2018 season, Burger was extremely popular with her teammates and has a fantastic relationship with the Storm fans.
Burger was involved in a number of local outreach campaigns, visiting schools such as Scott Wilkie Primary in Newham and King’s College in Guildford.
“Thank you to the Storm fans for the continued love and support throughout last season.
“We are ready to rise and to make a mark on the Superleague.”
