A fierce first quarter saw Storm lead 17-13 before they extended their lead at the start of the second quarter.

Storm opened up a ten-goal lead before Northumbria fought back but the home side held out to take a 30-27 lead at Half-Time.

Tactical changes came in the second-half as Tallisa Haynes replaced Jade Forbes-Wattley at Wing Defence, while Emily Porter came on at Goal Shooter.

A flurry of interceptions from both sides saw goals exchanged frequently, as Northumbria took the lead for the first time in the game.

It was Team Northumbria who took advantage late on in the third quarter, taking a 38-41 lead into the final period.

With a strong crowd behind them, Storm had it all to do as Mikki Austin replaced Yasmin Parsons at Centre.

Austin had an immediate impact and within three minutes Storm were back in the lead.

Great defensive work from Lorraine Kowalewska and Jo Trip saw Storm take a one-goal lead into a nail-biting final seconds.

With moments left on the clock, Northumbria missed and Surrey Sports Park exploded with noise.

The win gives Storm their second consecutive win, for the first time this season.
