Surrey Storm v Hertfordshire Mavericks
2015 Netball Superleague- Round 7
Saturday 7th March 2015, 6pm
Copper Box Arena
Live on Sky Sports 3 from 5.30pm

A UK record breaking crowd will witness Surrey Storm host Hertfordshire Mavericks in round 7 of the 2015 Superleague season as two of the league’s biggest rivals go head-to-head in what is certain to be an exciting, feisty battle.

The pair enjoyed mixed fortunes in round 6 last weekend, with Storm comfortably defeating Team Northumbria 69-35 at Surrey Sports Park while Mavericks struggled to cope with league top scorer Lottysha Cato, losing 56-42 away to Yorkshire Jets.

Those results saw Surrey leapfrog Hertfordshire to go 2nd in the table, leaving Saturday’s match vital in the race for a home semi-final.

Despite recent results, Coach Tamsin Greenway is remaining coy ahead of the clash: “We’ve had a good run of results and I am very happy with our campaign so far. Being able to rotate the squad so freely has worked well too as it keeps the squad fresh and game ready at all times.

That said, Saturday will be a different kettle of fish. It will not be easy. Fans are almost certainly in for a treat!”
Previous battles between the London rivals have always been some of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures of every Superleague season, which was no different in 2014 when Storm secured a hat-trick of wins against Mavericks, including a 52-50 nail-biter at the first ever Netball London Live and a semi-final victory to see Storm into the Grand Final.

Greenway, who has been ever present in the Storm squad as a player or coach since day one, is familiar with the style of play that this weekend’s opponents will bring to the court: “Mavericks are a tough side to go up against. They are physical, strong and very determined. They will be very different opponents to any we have faced previously this season.

“Both squads are littered with amazing netball talents. It will be a real treat for fans to see so many internationals on court in a regular season match and the supporters will create a very special atmosphere.”

Tickets for Saturday’s Netball London Live event SOLD OUT with a month to go, but netball fans across the country will be able to tune in LIVE on Sky Sports 3 from 5.30pm. Non-Sky Sports subscribers can watch via NOW TV for as little as £6.99, or follow live updates on Facebook and Twitter throughout the day.
