Ratnapala takes Head Coach Role

Surrey Storm Netball are delighted to announce that Kathryn Ratnapala will take the role of Head Coach ahead of the start of the 2016 Vitality Netball Superleague season.

Former Assistant Coach at Team Bath and Hertfordshire Mavericks, Ratnapala brings a wealth of Superleague leadership experience to Storm having featured alongside Karen Atkinson at Storm’s Netball London Live rivals.

On court Kathryn featured for both England and Team Bath in a successful playing career and will now take the reigns at Surrey Sports Park as Storm begin their first ever season as reigning champions later this month.
Following her signing, Kathryn said: “This season is hotting up to be the most exciting Superleague campaign yet and I feel both honoured and excited to be working with Surrey Storm in defending our title.

“The squad has a fantastic blend of youth and experience, all of whom have earned their right within the squad and on the Superleague platform this upcoming season.”

This announcement means that former player-coach Tamsin Greenway will take the role of Director of Netball at Surrey Storm and will still be present at all match-days this season.

Storm have been back in training for a number of weeks and are now counting down till the opening weekend of the 2016 season, which will see Storm take on Team Bath at ‘Super Saturday’ in Birmingham.

Round two sees Team Northumbria visit Guildford for the first home game of the season (7.30pm centre-pass), with tickets for this game SOLD OUT and availability for other home games being extremely limited.
