Rhea returns

Surrey Storm is delighted to announce the re-signing of Rhea Dixon for the 2019 Vitality Netball Superleague season.

Dixon made her Superleague debut in the 2017 season and came through the NPL programme at Surrey Storm.

She spoke of her excitement to get back playing this season: “I’m really looking forward to being back in the duck egg blue!

“It’s been home for me for a long time so I’m excited to start building again.

“Once I got talking to Mikki [Austin] about her visions and values for us I knew we were in for something special this season.”

After unfortunately spending most of the 2018 season out injured with concussion, Dixon spoke of her struggles last season, but is raring to go for the upcoming season.

“It was difficult at times being on the sidelines and in the crowd for so long, especially as we had to play it by ear with concussion, so I didn’t know if/when I would be back.

“But the girls and support staff had my back through it all and were just as excited as I was to get back!

“I’ve been working very hard to get in shape for the season and I’ve been getting fitter and fitter as the weeks go on – we’ve been put through our paces so far during pre-season, and we’ve got a long way to go until January.”

Mikki Austin believes it is fantastic that players can make their way through the NPL programme and feature in the Vitality Netball Superleague.

“She’s come all the way through the youth ranks here so it’s great that we can retain one of our own.” said Austin.

“Her work rate is second to none, she’s extremely dedicated and always plays with a smile on her face.”
