Coach Tamsin Greenway has put together a talented long squad ahead of the 2015 Netball Superleague season, which will feature in the first pre-season friendly vs Wales on Saturday 25th October.
The 22-strong squad features a number of faces whom Storm fans will be familiar with, including captain Hannah Reid and her defensive partner Katy Holland, rising stars Amy Flanagan and Georgia Lees, and Rachel Dunn who returns to the Storm squad after featuring for England at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Greenway and England captain Pamela Cookey will reunite on court for Surrey, after both featuring in the Superleague squad that reached the Grand Final during the 2012 season.
Alex Sinclair, Kate Murphy, Kat Ainsworth, Danni Wates (née Finnigan), Katie Harris and Amanda Davis have also all returned to training with Storm.
Freya Thompson, Olivia Emanus and Izzy Kemp, all graduating from the Storm NPL setup, will trial for the senior squad ahead of the 2015 season.
Coach Greenway has invited a number of players into the Storm long squad with both Superleague and ANZ experience, including ex-Mavericks pair Josie Huckle and Mikki Austin, and former New Zealand under-21 Laurelle Borck, who returns to the UK after playing in the ANZ Championship with Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.
Becky Gentle (Loughborough Lightning and Downs NC), Kat Hayes (Team Bath and Blades NC) and Lorraine Kowalewska (Downs NC) complete the long squad.
Everyone at Surrey Storm Netball would like to congratulate fans' favourite Becky Trippick, who is expecting her first child later this year and will therefore not feature for Storm this season. Stef Bello is also not present in the long squad having chosen to retire from Superleague netball. We wish both players well and hope to see them back at Surrey Sports Park soon!
Storm fans will have their first chance to watch the squad in action when Surrey host Wales in the first pre-season friendly on Saturday 25th October at Surrey Sports Park. Tickets for this match are sold out, but there will be live updates on both Facebook and Twitter.
The long squad will be reduced down to the final 15 in mid-November.
