Storm Leadership Trio Confirmed

Director of Netball Tania Hoffman has selected defender Naida Hutchinson as her captain for the 2017 Vitality Netball Superleague season, who will be supported by Katy Holland and Georgia Lees to complete the Storm Leadership Team.

Naida, who will make her debut for Surrey Storm this season, will lead the team on and off court including at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday 11th March against her former side at Netball London Live.

After the announcement she said: “I am delighted to have been selected as Surrey Storm captain for this season’s campaign – it’s a huge accolade and one that I do not take lightly.

“I have really enjoyed pre-season so far and the girls are a truly amazing bunch of hard working, ruthless and determined athletes, which I really admire. “

The ex-Mavericks star has been handed the honour by Hoffman, who has been particularly impressed with Hutchinson since her arrival during the pre-season period.

Tania said: “We are excited to announce Naida as captain for 2017. We are very fortunate to have a player of her calibre available to us and to further strengthen our leadership group with Katy Holland and Georgia Lees.

Naida's passion, determination, insight and tenacity are qualities that are invaluable in helping build a great team culture.

Supporting Naida will be Storm favourites Georgia Lees and Katy Holland, both of whom have been rewarded for their experience of the Superleague and commitment to the duck egg blue dress.

“Katy and Georgia are two great players with a variety of experience, knowledge and natural leadership,” said Naida. “I am really looking forward to continue working with them, to make sure that we provide strong leadership for the girls and help the squad to bring their A-game week in, week out.”
