Storm Confirm Squad For Sri Lanka Warm-Up

Mikki Austin has named her Surrey Storm squad for the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup warm-up against Sri Lanka at Crowthorne’s Wellington Health and Fitness Club on Saturday 6 July.

The 11-strong team features nine members of Storm’s 2019 Vitality Superleague squad, plus two England Roses Academy players from Storm’s NPL side.

Alongside Austin and captain Katy Hughes will be Jessica Dale, Leah Goss,Emily Gulvin, Yasmin Hodge-England, Laura Morton, Emily Porterand Alima Priest, plus England Roses Under 19 international Ellie Harding, and Roses Under 17 Academy member, Erin Leahy-Salvage.

Tickets for the game, which starts at 1pm, are priced £8 for adults and £4 for concessions, and can be purchased online here. Wellington Health and Fitness Club is on Duke’s Ride in Crowthorne, postcode RG45 7PT.

Having won the Asian Championships for a fifth time last year, Sri Lanka now compete in their tenth World Cup as part of Group A alongside Northern Ireland, Zimbabwe and reigning World Champions Australia.

Led by Coach Thilaka Jinadasa, who also represented her country as a sprint hurdler at the 1988 Olympics Games, and Captain Chathurangi Jayasooriya, a Flight Lieutenant in the Sri Lankan Air Force, they beat Singapore 69-50 in the Final of the 2018 M1 Asian Netball Championships. Their squad also features 6ft 10in Tharjini Sivalingam, who was named Best Shooter at the 2011 Netball World Cup.
