Surrey Storm 30 Team Bath 50

Surrey Storm suffered defeat on Sunday afternoon as they were beaten 50-30 by Team Bath in Wakefield.

 

Team Bath started the match strongly as they pulled away to an early four-goal advantage.

 

They forced Storm to make multiple errors which helped them to take control of the contest.

 

Bailey and Wells held firm for Surrey Storm to keep the scoreline within four goals against the unbeaten Team Bath side.

 

The ‘away’ side led 12-9 at the end of the opening quarter.

 

Team Bath continued their impressive start to the match in the second quarter, as they extended their lead to seven goals with six minutes remaining in the half.

 

They furthered their lead to nine goals heading into the interval, as they held Storm to just six goals in the second period, winning 24-15 at the break.

 

Despite Storm’s best efforts, Team Bath were able to extend their lead into double-digits within the opening minutes of the second half as Drakeford-Lewis and Creak continued to impress.

 

Team Bath led the game 40-25 heading into the final quarter of action.

 

Mikki Austin made some changes heading into the fourth period, as Zimbabwe Captain Felisitus Kwangwa entered the action in Goal Defence, while Ellie Kelk subbed in for Karyn Bailey at Goal Shooter.

 

Storm’s Zimbabwe Gem Kwangwa made an instant impact as she forced a turnover.

 

Team Bath continued their dominant display to win the match comfortably, as they remain unbeaten in the VNSL with a commanding 50-30 victory.
