Surrey Storm 58 Knights 44

Storm control proceedings at SSP to pick up a great pre-season win.

Mikki Austin’s side end 2019 with a big win led by shooters Karyn Bailey and Sophie Hankin, who each made their home debuts this evening.

Storm took the lead early on and never looked back, as smart and precise play led to a narrow 14-13 lead after the first quarter.

Some fantastic defensive performances from Alima Priest and Leah Middleton helped Storm to take control in the second quarter.

This was backed up by great shooting from Bailey once again, as Storm went into half-time with a 30-21 lead.

The high intensity didn’t stop there from Mikki’s side, who raced out of the break to take a double-digit lead.

Some great play from Emily Gulvin and Yasmin Parsons guided Storm to a 48-30 lead at the end of the third.

This set up a comfortable final period – with Storm taking the 58-44 win in front of the home crowd.

Storm are back in action on Sunday 12th January as we host Wasps in a pre-season friendly at SSP.
