Wasps 47 Surrey Storm 33

Surrey Storm suffered against Wasps on Sunday afternoon.

 

Storm opened the scoring as a slick passing passage was finished by Superleague’s Top Scorer Karyn Bailey.

 

The youngest player in the 2021 Superleague, Sophie Kelly (16) was aiming to outscore the oldest player in the league Rachel Dunn (38).

 

Kelly continued her impressive start to life in the VNSL with some impressive scoring in the opening quarter.

 

Rachel Dunn quickly turned up the heat against her former side to give Wasps an 11-8 lead at the end of the first.

 

Storm were able to survive a tricky period littered with turnovers, as Wasps moved up to a six-goal lead.

 

An injury to Goal Keeper Alima Priest saw Zimbabwe Captain Felisitus Kwangwa enter the game for Storm.

 

Wasps took control heading into the half-time interval, leading 26-17.

 

The experiences Wasps side continued to control the game in the second half, and extended their lead into double-digits.

 

Frankie Wells substitute into the match in place of young Sophie Kelly to add some physicality to the Storm attack.

 

Mikki Austin entered the action for Storm heading into the final quarter.

Wasps cruised to victory in Wakefield, as Storm move to a 2-3 record in the 2021 VNSL season.
