Surrey Storm’s VNSL game against Wasps Netball is fast approaching, and, as always, it will be hosted at Surrey Sports Park in memory of Tom Reseigh.
In October 2016, our former Storm Team Manager, Tom Reseigh, sadly passed away following a long battle with cancer. He was loved by players, coaches and fans throughout the netball world because of his passion and commitment to the sport.
We want to remember Tom and thank him for not only his service to netball but as a thank you from some of the people that had the honour of knowing him. A number of Storm and Wasps players have worked with Tom over the years, and in his memory, the annual fixture at Surrey Sports Park was named the Tom Reseigh Trophy.
Speaking to the Director of Netball, Mikki Austin, she reminded us how special Storm’s relationship with Tom was.
“Tom was the team manager for Storm when I moved to the franchise in 2014/15 and made an immediate impact on me personally. He was an incredibly light-hearted and funny man with an amazing ability to put everyone else ahead of himself.
“He was a fantastic netball coach and committed many hours to not only Surrey Storm, but also England Nets. I feel incredibly privileged to have known Tom and his wonderful family, and he is still talked about and remembered within our training environment today.
“We very much look forward to hosting the Tom Reseigh Trophy every year in honour of Tom and his family, and we ask you all to give generously to help us make a difference.”
Tom was a passionate supporter of Cancer Research UK, so we are encouraging Storm fans to turn the arena into a sea of pink on the 2ndFebruary. We hope you’ll find your brightest pink outfit to wear to the match.
We ask you to donate what you can to Cancer Research UK in memory of Tom so that we can continue to support a cause that meant so much to him and his family. There are a few ways you can do this:
We look forward to seeing you at Surrey Sports Park for Storm’s third fixture of the VNSL season and can’t wait to see you dressed in pink!
