McHale-Ogedengbe and Harrison-Smith complete coaching line-up

Former Surrey Storm attacker Rhianne McHale-Ogedengbe has returned to the club as the new Assistant Coach and will be joined by Becky Harrison-Smith as our new Team Manager.

The 28-year-old was part of the Storm side which made its Superleague debut in 2009, having made the move over from the Brunel Hurricanes, before hanging up her dress at the end of the 2012 season.

Fans may be more familiar with Rhianne under her maiden name ‘McHale’, but has since married Surrey Scorchers Basketball captain Tayo Ogedengbe who also plays and trains at Surrey Sports Park.

After signing Rhianne said: “It’s really exciting. It’s a great opportunity for me to come back to Storm on the coaching team rather than playing.

“I am really looking forward to learning from Tania Hoffman given all of her experience and I can’t wait for the season ahead!”

Joining as new Team Manager is England and Storm super fan Becky Harrison-Smith.

Having played netball since her teens, Harrison-Smith currently plays for Farnham Netball Club and has experience in setting up a number of community teams.

The mum of three children also runs Tadpole Tots Swim School, teaching 600 babies and children to swim throughout Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire.

After signing Becky said: “I am really excited to be working with Surrey Storm coaching team and managing the girls this season.

“I am hugely aware of the big boots I have to fill following the very sad passing of Tom Reseigh last year and I sincerely hope I can live up to very high standard he set.”

The pair join brand new Director of Netball Tania Hoffman in the 2017 coaching line-up, and all three will be looking to lead Storm towards their third successive Superleague title this season.

Surrey Storm get their 2017 Vitality Netball Superleague season underway this Saturday when they host Severn Stars at Surrey Sports Park (7pm centre-pass). Tickets are sold out but fans who cannot attend the match can watch live in-game video clips on Twitter (@surreystorm) or download the brand new Netball Superleague app for the goals as they happen!
