Report: Hertfordshire Mavericks 56-63 Surrey Storm

Surrey Storm continued their domination at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday evening with a XX-XX win over Hertfordshire Mavericks in the ‘Battle at the Box’ event.

Storm took an early 4 goal advantage at 5-9 thanks to the ever improving partnership between Megan Craig and Katie Harris, and they maintained this lead heading into the first break (15-19). Another turnover followed almost immediately in Q2, but Mavericks responded with an 8-1 goal run to take a slender lead. Storm recomposed and retook their lead just before the half time break (31-33)

Beth Sutherland flew in with a key interception in Q3 to allow Storm to extend their lead, with the defensive unit proving vital in pushing the visitors’ lead. But still Mavericks were allowed back into the game and Storm’s lead was quickly reduced to a single goal. Once again they turned it around though, leading 50-42 at the end of Q3.
Storm really came into their own in Q4 and cruised out for a 56-63 win to secure their 2nd win of the season in the capital.
