Surrey Storm’s NPL squad set the victorious tone at the Copper Box Arena as they secured a 60-38 victory over Hertfordshire Mavericks NPL in the Netball London Live warm-up match.
Mavericks took the lead early on in the match but Storm were quickly able to peg back to 8-all, before leading 14-12 after the first quarter.
A tight 2-goal lead remained for much of the 2nd quarter until a powerful surge of goals handed the hosts a 28-20 lead at the half time break.
Storm continued to increase their lead in the 3rd quarter and with a 10 goal advantage (43-33) to open the final quarter it looked certain that Mavericks would take defeat.
Surrey put a huge 15 goals on the board in the closing period against Hertfordshire's 5 to seal the friendly win and the perfect opener to an afternoon of record-breaking netball at London's Copper Box Arena.
Surrey Storm NPL return to action on Saturday 21st March when they travel to Wales to face Junior Dragons at the University of South Wales.
