STORM TAKE ON STARS AT SPORTS PARK

Surrey Storm will be taking on Severn at Surrey Sports Park this Saturday in the final pre-season friendly ahead of the 2018 Vitality Netball Superleague season.

With a host of both returning-faces and new-names to the 2018 Storm squad, Tania Hoffman’s side view the friendly as vital preparation for the start of the season.

“We’ve worked hard in training and I can feel the intensity building within the group.” Said Hoffman.

“The team can’t wait to implement our game plans out on court this Saturday.”

South African shooter Charmaine Baard arrived in Surrey this week and will be available for selection to make her Storm debut.

Fellow South African Sigi Burger will not feature as she remains with the South African training squad for the Quad 4 Series.

Stars finished in 8th position in last season’s Superleague and are targeting a top-four finish this season.

Head Coach Sam Bird has spoken of her excitement for the season to start.

“We have competition for every place in the team and the work ethic of the squad is excellent.”

A number of familiar faces return for Stars this season with the likes of Laura Malcolm staying on as captain and Sophie Carter, Becky Oatley and Iona Darroch also re-signing.

As well as the returning players, new signings include no-less than five players from Team Bath as well as Amanda David and Dominique Ford-Gordon.
