Celtic Dragons 40 Surrey Storm 56

Surrey Storm picked up their second win of the 2021 VNSL season with victory against Celtic Dragons!

Karyn Bailey was the star of the show as the experienced Aussie guided Storm to a win in front of the Sky cameras.

Bailey started the match in emphatic fashion with five quick goals to give Storm a 5-2 lead.

Storm maintained a lead throughout the first quarter, keeping Dragons at a three-goal distance.

Impressive attacking between Bailey and Frankie Wells helped to extend the lead by five goals to 13-8 with two minutes to play in the opening quarter.

A great defensive play from Leah Middleton helped to end the end-to-end scoring, as Storm pulled away to a seven-goal lead in the second quarter.

Wells and Bailey continued their impressive performances approaching half-time as Storm led 27-19 with a minute to play.

But Dragons reduced the Storm lead to five goals, as Storm led 27-22 at the interval.

Mikki Austin substituted into the game to begin the second half, an identical swap to yesterday against Leeds Rhinos.

Storm raced out to a 10-goal lead to begin the third quarter with some impressive play from Austin and Bailey.

Dragons wouldn’t go away and pulled it back to within eight goals, ending the quarter with a Storm lead of 42-34.

Sophie Kelly entered the action in the fourth quarter to continue her impressive start to her rookie season in duck-egg blue.

Surrey cruised to victory in the fourth quarter as they secured a comfortable 56-40 victory in Wakefield.

Storm are back in action on Sunday as they take on Wasps!
