Surrey Storm 46 Wasps 50

Storm were narrowly defeated by Wasps in this afternoon’s pre-season game at SSP.

Mikki’s side were pegged back but continued to rally and bring the game back within touching distance, but a late run from Wasps sealed the deal.

Wasps took the narrow lead in the opening fifth – leading 10-8 after the first 12 minutes.

But some impressive shooting from Sophie Hankin and tough defence from Leah Middleton helped Storm to fight back and the game was tied 19-19 after two periods.

Wasps re-gained control of the contest in the third and led by four points.

But once again Storm rallied back thanks to Yasmin Hodge-England and the gap was reduced to two points heading into the final 12 minutes.

Storm took the lead early on in the final stage, but a run from Wasps sealed the narrow victory for the visitors.
