Surrey Storm County Trials 2023

Surrey Storm County Trials 2023

Are you a talented netball player moving into school years 9 and 10 in 2023/24?  Do you want to be part of the England Netball Performance Pathway in one of the strongest regions in the Country?  Do you want to be considered for selection to a Surrey Storm Academy?

Surrey Storm will be working in partnership with our four counties, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex to trial athletes who are County age eligible (those in years 9 and 10 in 2023/24).

For anyone not already in a Surrey Storm programme this is your route to selection.

Selectors from the Surrey Storm Pathway will be working with those from Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.  Trials will run during June and July and we will be looking at what programme will be best for you and where relevant, putting you through to the next stage of the process.  This may be selection for a County PDP programme, or a Surrey Storm Aspire programme, or for those identified as exceptional athletes they will be invited to trial for the Surrey Storm U17 Academy or be offered a Surrey Storm PDP trial.

Applications should be made via the links below.  Pick the County that is most relevant to you (this does not have to be where you live as you can trial for any County).

FAQ

I’m year 9 or 10 and currently in a Surrey Storm PDP or Aspire programme so should I apply?

Yes. If you are a Year 9 or 10 athlete in either a County PDP or a Storm PDP, you should apply through a County programme.  Only athletes in the Storm U15 and U17 programmes do not need to apply to County.

I’m currently in a County PDP programme so should I apply?

Yes, even in you have been in the County programme this year, you should re-apply.

Will I be able to apply to trial for Surrey Storm in September?

If you are school years 9 and 10 we will not be accepting direct applications to trial.  You will need to apply via the links above or be nominated by a County coach.

Can I trial for any County?

You can trial for any County – it does not have to be the one where you live or attend school.  Just follow the links above for whichever is best for you.

I live outside of the Surrey Storm region but can I still trial?

Yes. If you live in a County not in Surrey Storm’s region you can still trial.  Just be mindful of travel time and make sure it’s practical for you if you were successful.

Will Surrey Storm still be running their Aspire programme?

Yes. Surrey Storm’s Aspire programme is aimed at those U15s who are unable to attend County PDP sessions (eg. because of clashes with club training) and those older athletes that were unsuccessful in Surrey Storm’s PDP trials but who have potential for next season and wish to continue to improve.  However please note that the Aspire programme is not part of the England Netball Performance Pathway and you will only be eligible for selection into Surrey Storm U15 or U17 if you progress during the season to a PDP.  Trials for these will take place late September.  Lookout for Social Media posts.

When are Surrey Storm trials for those who are now too old for the County programme – i.e. year 11 and older in September?

Surrey Storm will be running their U17, U19, U21 and PDP trials in September.  Dates will be announced in late June.  Lookout for Social Media posts for more information.
