Yasmin Parsons and Niamh Cooper return!

Storm re-sign mid courters Yasmin Parsons and Niamh Cooper for 2022 Superleague Campaign!

Surrey Storm are thrilled to announce the re-signing of last season captain Yasmin Parsons and Wing Defence Niamh Cooper for the 2022 Superleague season!

Parsons first wore the duck egg blue in 2015 and joined coach Mikki Austin in being a member of Storms 2016 superleague winning squad.

Resigning with Storm Parsons commented “I am super excited to be playing my 7th season with Storm. The club has developed me as a player both technically and tactically and as a leader.

“This team believes in dedication, relentlessness and supporting one another and that’s what I’m all about. It was an easy decision to put pen to paper again for another season with this incredible team.”

Irish international Niamh Cooper shares the same passion for the club and was delighted to sign. “I’m so excited to be back at Storm for a 3rd season, I love everything about Storm, the team are like a family away from home for me and we all know our fans are the best in the league!”.

Cooper representing Northern Ireland in the upcoming common wealth games enjoys the competition the VNSL brings leading into a big summer next year.

“2022 is a huge year for us! It’s always an honour to represent Northern Ireland and with lots of changes since the World Cup in 2019.

“Training with and playing against the top players in VNSL every week is the best preparation I could ask for – It’s going to be busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!”.

Last season was a real test for the players and staff not having the fans to spur the team forward in crunch moments. Fan favourite Yasmin commented “I’m ready to welcome back our 8th Player and I think the Storm Fans are ready to burst through those doors.

“Their consistent support has been valuable to us and their dedication to supporting us behind the scenes and online has meant the world. I believe with their support in the crowds it will help our momentum to change the placings this year.”

With new signings coming in this season the two mid courters have faith in the off season work Mikki Austin had put in.

Cooper commented “I trust in the vision Mikki has for Storm and I’m buzzing to get the chance to prove we are a team that can compete against championship winning sides!

Parsons added “she’s done a great job and I’m excited to be playing with such talent. The new signings will add to the strength of this team. Watch out Storm Fans, brace yourself for some exciting announcements.”

Mikki Austin shared her thoughts on the signing of the duo. “We’re super excited to welcome back Yasmin to Surrey Storm, she’s a dynamic attacker with a fantastic work ethic. She represents everything we hold dear and look forward to work with Yas this season.

“In the midst of a big international calendar we are looing forward to having Niamh back in the duck egg blue. A player who went from strength to strength last season and look forward to Surrey Storm helping her continued development.”

Welcome back Yaz and Niamh.
