Mikki Austin to continue as a player/coach

Player/Coach Mikki Austin will continue at the helm at Surrey Storm for the 2024 Superleague season.

One of the longest serving players in the franchise, Austin enters her fifth year as at player-coach and has already retained two key players of the squad in Amy Flanagan and Frankie Wells.

The three-time Fan’s Player of the season has been a key part of Surrey Storm since signing in 2015.

Part of the back-to-back winning Superleague league squad, Austin is a vital role model in the club’s community coaching programme across London and the South East.

As Director of Netball I am incredibly proud to recognise the journey we have gone on as a franchise over my tenure. Whilst it’s important to take stock of the success of 2023; the franchise making finals netball for the first time since 2016, as well as multiple individual player success stories along the way, over this recruitment phase we have worked tirelessly to ensure we retain the spine of our squad, whilst important to recognise areas to bolster where we can hopefully continue to push this franchise forward in 2024. Our fans have been incredible for every season I have been player/coach, and we hope the support in 2024 will be bigger and better than ever.
