NWC Silver Medallist Drakeford-Lewis to stay at Storm

England Vitality Rose, Sophie Drakeford-Lewis will remain at Surrey Sports Park for the 2024 Superleague Season.

The 2023 Netball World Cup Silver Medallist joined Scorchers ahead of last season having previously played for Team Bath (2018-2022) and Saracens Mavericks (2017-2018).

In 2019 she received the Young Player of the Season award and has gone from strength-to-strength and helped Storm into the top four during the 2023 campaign.

The 24-year-old’s international career began when she was selected into the Roses Academy in 2016 and went on numerous tours. In 2017 she was a part of the bronze medal winning squad at the Netball Youth Cup.

In 2019, the goal attack made the step up to the Vitality Roses’ full-time programme after a successful season with the Roses Futures. Her major senior debut came at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

I’m very excited about signing for the duck egg blue for my second season. I’m looking forward to welcoming to welcoming the new players into the squad and building on the momentum of last year!

Sophie Drakeford-Lewis

Sophie had her best season to date in 2023 having scored a whopping 422 goals, the highest of any GA in NSL as well as proving to be lethal defensively. She partnered with Proscovia Peace seamlessly to provide a deadly accurate option inside the circle. She is a proven world class athlete in both the GA and WA, and brings a phenomenal work ethic and determination into our group. I am thrilled to welcome Sophie back to Surrey Storm in 2024.
