Flanagan takes Fans’ Player of the Season award

Surrey Storm defender Amy Flanagan has won the 2016 Fans’ Player of the Season award.

Another incredible season for Flanagan saw her become a vital part of the back-to-back Vitality Netball Superleague winning side, with success in both the wing defence and centre role as part of Coach Ratnapala’s squad rotation tactics.

Amy took an impressive 33% of the votes ahead of 2nd place Georgia Lees (14%) and debutant Sophia Candappa who came 3rd (11%).

After winning the award, Amy said: “I am honoured to have been voted for as the Fans’ Player of the Season, especially when so many of the team have excelled this year!

“To win the Superleague again was an amazing experience and was the result of the whole squad’s hard work and belief. As always, the support and passion of the fans means so much both on and off the court, especially in crucial situations (the semifinal vs Mavericks, for example). Thanks to everyone that voted and further to the supporters that made this season so unforgettable!”
